Tribute to A Woman (Selamat Hari Kartini)

Let me share something with you.

A woman is someone who has to be weak – so that the man she is with can show superiority.

A woman is someone who has to be strong – when the man she is with needs a sparing partner.

A woman is someone who has to be patient – when the man she is with has to place her after work and friends on his to-do list.

A woman is someone who has to be punctual – for the man she is with to be able to get up each morning and head for work on time.

A woman is someone who needs to have a great memory – when the man she is with forgets everything including birthdays and anniversaries.

A woman is someone who can also be forgetful – when the man she is with betrays her one too many times.

A woman is someone who can stand on her own feet – when the man she is with is too busy to tend for her needs.

A woman is someone who can be clingy – for the man she is with to feel needed and wanted.

A woman is someone who can pretend to be deft – when the man she is with thinks that shouting is the way to express anger.

A woman is someone with endless love – when the man she is with asks for forgiveness time and time again.

A woman is someone who has to be understanding – when the man she is with thinks that motorcycle (or golf, or bars) is the only means of relaxation.

A woman is someone who has to be flexible – when the man she is with asks her to change her agenda to match his schedules.

A woman is someone who has to be gentle – when the man she is with is unwell, all mind, body and soul.

A woman is someone who has to be courageous – when the man she is with cannot be the man he is supposed to be for her.

A woman is someone with many talents – to answer to all the needs of the man she is with.

A woman is someone who has to be there even when most of the time she has to pretend that she does not exist. She needs all her time to care for those around her and yet she needs to spend some of her time to care for herself. She needs to put up with a lot of things, but at the end, a woman needs to know that she is responsible to make herself feel good and respected.

My earlier twit today reads: A woman with advanced thinking knows when she needs to stand in front, beside or behind. Because such woman knows when she has to lead, befriend or serve.
